Purpose of Role:
The Senior Transport Planner will play a crucial role in providing high-quality advice for a diverse portfolio of transport consultancy projects. This includes producing development planning reports, analyzing travel data, and utilizing modeling tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Preparation of Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, and Travel Plans for various development planning projects.
Project management for smaller projects and collaborative team efforts on larger initiatives.
Conducting various forms of transport modeling to explore different scenarios and assumptions.
Training and mentoring new graduates and apprentices within the team.
Delivering market-leading consultancy advice with a focus on client requirements and stakeholder interests.
Effective commercial and resource management.
General:
Adherence to company policies, including health and safety standards.
Compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
Maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to work or communication with the company and clients.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the business.
Active participation in developing and maintaining effective working practices at the team level.
Regular communication with the Line Manager regarding workload.
Taking responsibility for personal performance, training, and development.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a related subject, with an ideal Master’s degree in transport.
Post-graduate work experience as a Transport Planner/Transport Engineer in a consulting or local authority environment.
Extensive experience in Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, and Travel Plans.
Familiarity with access strategy work, parking strategies, sustainable transport, S106 agreements, S278 agreements, and relevant guidance.
Proficiency in TRICS database usage.
Experience in setting up and running PICADY’s and ARCADYS.
Understanding of LINSIG and proficiency in micro-simulation and strategic models/modelling.
Knowledge of junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Energetic and adaptable with a positive attitude, capable of handling new challenges and working under pressure.
