We are thrilled to offer an opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Coordinator to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Technical team located in Birmingham, West Midlands. This pivotal role supports the Land & Planning teams while managing external consultants across residential and mixed-use developments.
As a Senior Technical Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading your area of the Technical team to deliver high-quality and timely advice and identification of risks to others in the business. Your duties will include proactive communication with other divisions within the business, leadership within the Technical Team involving the setting of appropriate milestones and workload expectations to Technical Coordinators and Administrators. You will also contribute to the wider team management ensuring that a dynamic and supportive workspace is created and that the appropriate resources are in place or identified to enable the team to function at a high level.
Where necessary, you will also provide direct project management support and administration of all technical matters during the pre-bid and pre-exchange process, and support to internal/ external Project Managers during the Planning Application stage and support to the Region and Disposals team during the Sale process. You will ensure that projects are reviewed at appropriate stages through their life cycle within the business and that recommendations for improvements to the reports and designs prepared for planning application are identified. This will help to ensure that schemes have the best opportunity to attain planning permission, through to the transfer of the site to one of our development partners ensuring that you actively seek to achieve best value for the company and the landowner throughout.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Regulatory Knowledge
In-depth understanding of building regulations, safety regulations, and other legal requirements essential for construction and development projects.
Familiarity with key agreements and legal frameworks related to development, such as S106 (WI and T&CP), S38 (HA), S278 (HA), etc.
Technical Knowledge and Expertise:
Strong working knowledge across multiple technical fields, including Ecological, Engineering, Flood Risk, Energy, Utilities, and Sustainability.
Ability to interpret and apply technical knowledge to ensure compliance with minimum design and safety standards.
Project and Site Management:
Proven experience in leading site delivery through the planning stage, including managing and coordinating the technical approval process.
Ability to meet timelines, ensuring that projects move forward smoothly and efficiently.
Organisational and Coordination Skills:
Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong coordination skills to ensure all elements of a project are aligned and moving toward successful completion.
Leadership and Management:
Leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and projects.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide team members toward common goals, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
Communication and Stakeholder Management:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from internal teams to external clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Ability to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts when necessary.
Technical Drawings and Reports Interpretation:
Skilled in reviewing and understanding engineering drawings and reports, with a clear understanding of minimum design and engineering requirements.
Expertise in AutoCAD for preparing internal drawings and coordinating external submissions or receivables.
Legal and Regulatory Acumen:
In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks in relation to construction and infrastructure projects.
AutoCAD Proficiency:
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for producing detailed internal drawings and coordinating the technical aspects of external design documentation.
