Architectural Technologist
West Midlands | £45,000 to £50,000
Job Reference: 16407
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Architectural Technologist to join a regional technical team as Technical Coordinator, based in Birmingham.
This role requires the ability to produce drawings for houses and apartments using AutoCAD. While creating full building drawings from scratch will be required occasionally, the primary drawing responsibilities will focus on developing construction details and updating existing working-drawing packs.
A significant part of the role involves managing external consultants. This includes reviewing their work, checking and approving ancillary designs such as stair layouts, joist designs, roof truss packages, heating layouts, and plumbing systems.
The successful candidate will act as the main technical point of contact for multiple sites, providing support to the commercial, build, and sales teams. This support will continue from design-team handover through the working-drawing production phase, the discharge of NHBC conditions, plot completions on site, and any technical aftercare required by customer care.
Applicants should have demonstrable housebuilding experience, including appointing and managing architects to deliver superstructure information. They must also be capable of producing building drawings and construction details in CAD. In addition, applicants should have experience managing key technical processes, including securing SAP calculations, completing Part O assessments, discharging NHBC conditions, and checking working drawings and ancillary design packages for compliance with NHBC technical standards and Building Regulations.
Flexible working is supported where possible, alongside a strong emphasis on in-person collaboration and team culture.
